Conditions of Loan
The following conditions shall apply to the lending of all scripts/books and recordings:
1. Books on loan may be used for playreading or in rehearsal as required.
2. Recordings on loan may not be used in rehearsal or performance, but may be copied if permission is given by the author/publisher.
3. Responsibility for hired copies remains with the individual placing the order. In the event of hired copies being passed to third parties, responsibility for the safe and timely return of these copies remains with the hirer. Any overdue charges, extensions or replacement fees will be levied to the account under the name of the original hirer.
4. The borrower shall take all reasonable care in the handling of books and recordings on loan.
5. The Association shall have no liability for any infringement of copyright in connection with any books or recordings on loan to the borrower.
6. The books or recordings shall remain the property of the Association throughout the period of loan, and the borrower shall not, for payment or otherwise, re-lend, sell, or otherwise dispose of them.
7. A request to extend the loan period shall be granted, provided that the request is made BEFORE the expiry date, and that the books or recordings are not reserved by another member.
8. The borrower shall return the books or recordings at own expense on the due date.
9. The borrower shall reimburse the Association for the replacement cost (inc. sum of administration expenses) of all books or recordings lost or damaged, fair wear and tear excepted, including loss or damage while books or recordings are being returned by post. NB Out of print plays will have an administration charge of £25.
10. The borrower shall pay the appropriate loan charge in accordance with the current scale of charges published by the Association.
11. The borrower shall, in the event of late return, pay the appropriate loan charge published, for the excess period of loan, in accordance with current scale.
12. The Association shall have the right to replace books or recordings not returned by the due date, and to charge the borrower at full replacement cost, including sum for administration expenses.
13. The borrower shall be notified of all loan charges by invoice at the time of borrowing and shall make payment not later than one month after receipt of a Statement of Account.
14. The hire of scripts is permitted only to members of the Association.
